Victoria Chaplin

Vicky is a NICE Medicines and Prescribing Associate and prior to the fellowship worked at NHS London Procurement Partnership. Here, she belonged to the Medicines Optimisation team, who provide support to CCGs and trusts across London. Her work there focused predominantly on her main area of interest – diabetes – with outputs covering a number of areas, including general information and tools, data, procurement and commissioning. Prior to this role, Vicky has had roles in various sectors of pharmacy, including primary care, secondary care and community pharmacy. She also has an MSc in Economic Evaluation in Healthcare.

Vicky is predominantly based within two areas in NHS Digital, so has insight to both the data space and technology development. She is currently supporting the NHS Apps Library development as clinical lead within NHSD and is leading on two data projects – one a review of national prescribing measures used with primary care medicines data and the other supporting analysis of medication data within the National Diabetes Audit.

Vicky applied for the fellowship as she wanted to develop her understanding of the interplay and dynamics of multi-organisation led workstreams at national level and reflect on how she could contribute to these as a pharmacy leader. Over the year so far she has gained a broader perspective of how national priorities are moulded and led to empower frontline NHS staff and facilitate sustainable improvements in patient care.
