Dr Arjun Varma

Arjun qualified from Kings College London in 2019. During his time at university, he was elected as President of KCL Dental Society and won a variety of prizes in subjects ranging from Dental Public Health to a Dental Industry Award focusing on technology.

Arjun has worked in several clinical settings within primary and secondary care. He has completed two years of Dental Core Training, in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Ipswich Hospital) and Restorative Dentistry (Royal London Dental Hospital). During this time he has published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented clinical cases and research at national and international conferences.

Outside of dentistry, Arjun enjoys reading, fitness and has an interest in videography. His passion for film lead him to work with the Informatics and Technology Enhanced Learning department at Guy's Hospital. Here, he directed and produced a series of short videos which are used as learning resources by undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Arjun initially wanted to join the fellowship to understand how policies and systems can improve the workplace for clinicians and have a positive impact on patient care.

He hopes he can develop his personal leadership skills whilst broadening his understanding of healthcare management and wider challenges facing dentistry in the UK.
