Brendan started work as a GP in a teaching practice in Swansea in 1989. During this time he developed a particular interest in diabetes. As an Advanced Trainer for the Warwick University Diabetes Course he facilitated the delivery of the Diabetes Diploma course in Swansea. His interest in diabetes and education was further developed through posts as Honorary Lecturer with Cardiff University School of Medicine and Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at Swansea School of Medicine. Since 2009 he has been Medical Director at Powys Teaching Health Board, developing services in a highly rural area covering 25% of the total area of Wales.
