CFS Alumni Symposium 2023

FMLM are proud to launch the first CFS Alumni Symposium, a tribute to clinical leadership held on the 27th of March 2023 at The University of Manchester.

Take the opportunity to reconnect with your fellow alumni and our senior NHS leaders and learn about current and future opportunities for those passionate about clinical leadership.

About the Symposium

FMLM CFS Alumni Group Picture

The Alumni Symposium is free, exclusively open to all CFS Alumni and existing CFS Fellows, sponsored by the NHS Leadership Academy, People Directorate, and endorsed by the National Medical Director, Sir Stephen Powis. 

The day starts at 10am, and is designed to establish an intimate learning environment comprised of keynote speeches, career spotlights, panel discussions and interactive workshops.

Accessibility: FMLM aim to make events as accessible as possible. If you have specific access requirements, please indicate these at registration or get in touch by emailing events [at] fmlm.ac.uk. The location will have flat floored entrances with lift access to all floors and accessible toilets on all floors near the lifts. Hearing loops and Blue-badge parking can be made available. 

Trains: Manchester Piccadilly mainline station is just 2.5 hours from London and only a 5-minute walk away from the main campus of The University of Manchester. 

Parking: The multi-storey car parks at both Booth Street East (M13 9SS) and Higher Cambridge Street (M15 6AR) offer paid public parking and are convenient and within easy distance of the conference. 

Hotels: For those wishing to stay in the city, Manchester has plenty of options to choose from, including the 4* Hyatt Regency at the heart of the Oxford Road campus, only a 2-minute walk from the venue.

The event is free and exclusive to CFS Fellows, Alumni, Senior NHS Leaders and Host Organisations. Timings for the day are as follows:

10 am Start

  • A conversation with Sir Stephen Powis (NHSE)
  • CFS Alumni Career Spotlights
  • Interactive Workshops: Service Redesign and Transformation, Workforce, and Research: 360 degree feedback
  • Panel Discussion: Starting the Leadership Journey at Medical School

4 pm Close

CPD Benefits

Gain 6 CPD points upon registering and attending the Symposium. As the first of its kind, the Alumni Symposium promises to be an inspirational and exciting chance to connect and network for the select audience privileged to have completed the CFS programmes.

Accessibility at Manchester University Conference Space

Since 2011 over 400+ exceptional clinicians have benefited from the unique experience of passing through the clinical fellow schemes. The CFS Alumni Symposium event on the 27th of March is exclusively available to those that have completed a clinical fellow scheme and who comprise the FMLM Alumni.
