Mr Ian Wylie

Ian Wylie has been Chief Executive of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom since September 2010.  Previously he was head of clinical planning for the Hospital Authority in Hong Kong and has a long career in health service development and health policy and planning in the UK, which includes six years as a Director of the King’s Fund and has served as CEO of the British Dental Association and of the TreeHouse Trust. 

Ian began his career in the NHS, specialising in primary care development and hospital organisation in inner London and was involved in the 1990s developments of GP fundholding and NHS commissioning.  In Hong Kong he was responsible for developing clinical service strategies for mental health, elderly people, and cardiac services. 

Ian is a graduate of Oxford University where he holds a DPhil in English literature.  He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
