About me

A GP by background, I have 20 years of experience in senior medical leadership/management roles nationally, regionally and in Shropshire.

Being coached has enabled me to tackle issues, explore opportunities, manage my work-life balance and navigate a rewarding and wide-ranging career. I therefore take a coaching approach to all I do and have developed my coaching practice through my experience in team, organisational and system leadership, undertaking a Diploma in Professional Coach/Mentoring and continually building my coaching, mentoring  and other  leadership development and support practice.

Coaching process

I approach coaching through building rapport with my clients to create a safe and supported environment in which I can gain a rich understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face and enable them to explore these in more detail. I use a range of coaching styles, philosophies, models, tools and tactics do to so, adapting these to the needs and preferences of the individual, and including a touch of creativity at any opportunity. Through this process the client can identify options for their next steps and to formulate a plan of action. A 90-minute session might cover some or all of these steps and the following session starts with a review of progress and agreeing how we use the ongoing sessions to continue this cycle of coaching to best meet their needs.

I work with people at all career stages bringing with me my experience as a GP and in local, regional and national health and care leadership and management roles. I enable them to explore challenges and opportunities they face and, through a self-directed, person-centred approach, to be able to take steps towards realising their potential and flourishing.

What are your three unique selling points that separates you from other coaches?

1. I bring a blended coach/mentoring approach using both my professional coach mentoring qualification and experience and 20 years’ experience as a GP and in local, regional and national leadership/management roles.

2. I take a person-centred approach to all I do, recognising that if we want to shape and offer person-centred health and care provision, we need to work in a person-centred way with each other. I recognise the value of creativity so utilise creative approaches in doing this.

3. I have multi-professional and cross sector experience as a coach, including within health and care services, voluntary and community sectors and those affecting the wider determinants of health
