Miss Jennifer Allen

Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Clinical Fellow 2022/23

Jenny Allen studied Pharmacy at the University of Reading and obtained her degree in 2009. She has since undertaken a postgraduate clinical diploma, completed an independent prescribing qualification and obtained an MSc in Clinical Oncology from the University of Newcastle. Jenny currently works as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Haematology. She runs three outpatient clinics per week, and reviews patients with both malignant and non-malignant Haematological disorders. She has completed additional training and can authorise blood components and undertake procedures such as bone marrow biopsies. Jenny supports the wider multi-disciplinary team, and utilises her prescribing qualification on a daily basis to support patient care. She has previously had experience within aseptics and production and has acted as the Accountable Pharmacist for the Trust's production unit.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Jenny believes this is a critical time for the NHS and that the Pharmacy profession has a wide ranging skill set to lead and develop a healthcare system which has a sustainable future. Jenny applied for the CPhO fellowship scheme as she wishes to be in a position to contribute towards this and ensure this is possible in years to come. Jenny is very keen to broaden her knowledge and experience outside of hospital pharmacy and the North East of England in particular, and to learn about other sectors of the profession. She has an interest in supporting education and training, research and advanced practice roles and is looking forward to building on her existing knowledge and broadening her skillset via the opportunities offered during the year.
