Mrs Jessie Frost

Office for Health Improvement Disparities / Health Education England
Chief Sustainability Officer's Clinical Fellow 2022/23
Physiotherapist

Jessie is a chartered physiotherapist, and has worked in paediatrics since 2008. She has been with Guy's and St Thomas’ NHS Trust for the last five years, most recently as a team lead in the Evelina London community physiotherapy team, working with children from 0-19 years with neurodevelopmental difficulties.

Jessie has been involved in numerous quality improvement projects spanning health, education and social care systems to support the design, development and delivery of sustainability initiatives, including digital transformation and streamlining models of paediatric care with particular focus on surveillance and early intervention.

Jessie is passionate about global child health, disability and development pursuing MSc study in this area with a particular interest in the cultural and sociopolitical contexts in which legislation and models of care have developed internationally. She has a keen interest in the alignment between social determinants of global health, health inequalities over the life-course, public health and prevention and environmental sustainability.

Jessie has recently taken on the organisational role for Physiotherapy Susnet, and hopes to continue to strengthen its following and membership during the course of her tenure.

Reason for applying for the scheme

As an allied health professional (AHP), Jessie has a professional commitment to promote, maintain or restore health to patients in addition to her personal desire to act responsibly in daily life choices, minimising her environmental impact. She is passionate about sustainable healthcare and learning ways to better embed the principles of sustainability and carbon reduction into both integrated care design and NHS employee culture and behaviour in order to improve patient outcomes.

The climate emergency is the biggest health threat to Jessie’s professional and personal life ambitions, and she hopes that the fellowship will enable her to impact wider systems change through integrating the sustainability agenda into pre registration healthcare education and continuing to communicate how AHPs in particular are expertly placed to support the delivery of a net zero NHS.

Jessie is excited to embrace all aspects of learning during the fellowship to enable her to more adeptly address the structural health inequalities within child health and disability globally by tackling climate change and strengthening healthcare systems.
