An Introduction to Surgical Leadership
A highly informative one day programme for sugical trainees providing a broad introduction to leadership, including:
- Leadership career options
- An understanding of the importance of teams
- How the NHS fits together
- NHS politics
- Regulation
- Panel discussion and networking opportunitites with senior leaders.
This programme is offered to all surgeons in training.

The Competent Surgical Leader Programme
This in-depth five day programme gives
- An introduction to leadership development and how it relates to quality of care
- The importance of teams as well as self awareness
- NHS structure and function
- Significant role of politics
The delivery will combine interactive practical sessions with facilitated seminars.
This programme is offered to surgeons in training (post-foundation years).

Tomorrow's Strategic Leader Development Programme
This intense 13 day programme running over 18 months, is for those who want to explore making leadership and management a significant part of their future career. Delivery combines a range of self-assessment tools, coaching, action learning sets, facilitated seminars and simulation. Guest facilitators include national and international experts blended with senior NHS and College leaders, politicians, senior civil servants and journalists.
This programme is offered to senior trainees and new consultants (within 5 years of first appointment) who hold fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Other participating colleges include: Royal College of Anaesthetists, Royal College of Emergency Medicine, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College Physicians of London.
