Ms Naeema Majothi

Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Clinical Fellow 2022/23

Naeema is a qualified pharmacist with a background in Public Health, who graduated with a Masters in Pharmacy from the University of Nottingham. She has gained experience working in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Care and Community Pharmacy in a range of clinical areas. She subsequently specialised in Psychiatry where she has built up considerable experience and is an Independent Prescriber. Most recently Naeema has been working in Primary Care Mental Health medicines optimisation and supporting the transformation of Primary Care Mental Health services. She was Clinical Lead for a Citywide clinical audit and quality improvement project regarding digital communication at care interfaces. Naeema has been invited to speak at international conferences on mental health and has taught in the area at a postgraduate level. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications.

Naeema recently completed a Clinical Academic fellowship gaining skills in health research. Following this she has been successful in securing research grants, and was awarded the HEE-ICA Bridging Award and a Pump Priming Research Grant for a novel project regarding deprescribing of antipsychotics.

Naeema is passionate about health inequalities and has a Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, here she gained skills in health economics, health policy, epidemiology and health systems. Her research was focused on health policy analysis of the WHO policy on the use of rapid diagnostic testing for malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa. She then worked with the World Health Organisation in the Environmental Health Policy and Economics division.

In her personal time, Naeema enjoys yoga and walking in the Yorkshire countryside.

This opportunity will allow Naeema to gain an understanding of how health priorities are set to deliver the best possible health for the nation. She hopes to further develop her leadership, strategy, project management and health policy skills.
