Contribute to the NHS Long Term Plan leadership development workstream
FMLM will be represented on the new leadership development and talent management workstream to support the workforce aspect of the NHS Long Term Plan for England.
Mr Peter Lees, FMLM Chief Executive and Medical Director will join a panel, chaired by Peter Homa, Chair of the NHS Leadership Academy, which has been established to hear views and comments on the strategic development of the NHS workforce.
To support the work, a new online platform Talk Health and Care has been launched to gather ideas for the workforce panel to consider. The platform is open to all and contributions are invited.
Peter Lees, said:
“I would encourage FMLM members and supporters to join the conversation to make sure medical leadership stays at the heart of any future implementation, so contribute your ideas, and review and comment on those already posted.”
The leadership development and talent management workstream is one of the five workstreams established to deliver a strategic implementation plan for the NHS workforce and is part of the NHS Long Term Plan in England. Baroness Dido Harding, Chair of NHS Improvement, was asked to lead on the NHS workforce implementation plan by the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The five workstreams are:
- Future medical and dental workforce
- Future clinical workforce
- Making the NHS the best place to work
- Leadership development and talent management
- Tech skills and enablement
