Programme now launched for Leaders in Healthcare 2021

The programme for the sixth Leaders in Healthcare conference launched today, with around twenty sessions and a host of speakers now confirmed.

Speakers from Asia, Australasia, Europe, North America, as well as the UK, are set to share insights on what the data reveals about the steps medicine and healthcare should take to prepare for the future.

Royal college presidents will join NHS health inequalities, as well as race and observatory leaders to address how equitable systems can be built to tackle the health inequalities exposed by the pandemic.

There will be a two-part Great Debate: the first part led by doctors-in-training focused on key issues in medical leadership, while the second part will look at general practice and the impact of the pandemic on the doctor-patient relationship.

This year, the jointly produced FMLM and BMJ conference is a four-day ‘hybrid’ event, offering opportunities to attend in-person at the Barbican Centre on 8 and 9 November and online on 10 and 11 November.

The in-person conference will deliver a mix of keynote speakers – including Sir Mene Pangalos, AstraZeneca’s executive vice-president responsible for BioPharmaceutical R&D from discovery through to late-stage development – as well as practical workshops and networking discussions. While the online conference will bring together an international faculty of speakers and presenters to help inform healthcare leadership thinking in the residual and post-pandemic world.

In addition, the programme offers an interactive poster gallery and competition, along with the hugely popular one-to-one speed coaching sessions, as well as networking activities, huddles and group meet-ups.

The programme will ultimately present more than 50 sessions over the four days, with content recorded from the in-person event and made available through the online platform to registered delegates.

As with the 2020 conference, all recorded content from this year will be freely available to registered delegates for six months after the conference.

This year’s theme of Lead the Change: a reset for healthcare, was announced earlier this month. It recognises almost two years of battling the pandemic and the need to plan the next phase of healthcare reconfiguration and delivery, as well as the need to meet, share experiences, offer support – particularly those who have been on the frontlines – and regroup to lead and meet the challenges that still lie ahead.

The programme is in the final stages of production and more speakers and sessions will be released in the coming days and weeks.
