FMLM Student Prize - The winning presentation 2016/17

The FMLM Student Essay Prize 2016/17 has been awarded to Elizabeth Oke from St Georges University. The nationwide competition ran by the FMLM Medical Student Group, now in its second year aims to engage the healthcare leaders of tomorrow.

Students studying undergraduate level medicine and dentistry were invited to write an essay on how the 'How should medical schools prepare medical students for leading the NHS?' . Of the entries received, four students were shortlisted to present their work: Samuel Tribich of University of Sheffield, Nnamdi Nwuba of University of Manchester, Elizabeth Oke of St Georges University, and Shivali Fulchand of Cardiff University.

On the judging day, which took place in March 2017, students were given 10 minutes to present their essay to the judging panel including Mr Peter Lees, FMLM Chief Executive and Medical Director, and Miss Claire Marx, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and last years competition winner and MSG member Lotte Elton.

Elizabeth Oke was crowned the overall winner and gave her winning presentation via webinar on 3 May 2017. You can listen back to her presentation below, pick up a few tips for next year and read her winning essay via the attachment to the side of the page.
