What does good leadership look like?

As part of a series of interactive webinars to promote the outcomes and lessons learnt from Health Education England's Better Training Better Care (BTBC) Programme, a panel of a senior medical leads, enterprising trainees and project leads examine the methodology, lessons and outcomes of each BTBC project and explore how the learning and principles can be adopted.

The first in this series was held on 29 January 2015 to explore ‘What does good leadership look like?’.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS FT’s project focuses on improving clinical handover, so that patients benefit from better continuity of care and improved safety. The pilot project delivers enhanced training and education to medical doctors in training on what makes a good clinical handover, as well as introducing a new electronic handover tool on the acute medical unit.

The panel included:

  • Professor Jacky Hayden, Dean of Postgraduate Medical Studies Health Education North West
  • Dr Olivia Jagger, Clinical Fellow, The Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management
  • Dr Richard Ellis, ST4 Neurology trainee and a Clinical Leadership Fellow (Project lead)
