Dr Thomas Foley

Dr Foley was a National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow with FMLM and CQC, 2013/14 cohort. Prior to that, he was a psychiatry trainee and a Clinical Research Fellow in Newcastle. As well as his MBBS from Newcastle, he holds a BSc in software engineering from the University of Durham and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, which focused on economics and public policy analysis.

Before becoming a doctor, Dr Foley worked as a Management Consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers and BDO Stoy Hayward. This work focused on the appraisal and evaluation of public sector projects across various sectors.

 Since entering medicine, he has maintained his interest in management and health policy through various roles including Quality Assurance Visitor with the GMC, Non-Exec-Director of the British Medical Association, Co-Chair of the BMA’s Medical Student Committee, member of the DIUS Gateway to the Professions Group, Board Member of the British Association of Medical Managers Junior Doctors Division (BAMMbino), and member of the NHS Bursary Next Stage Review Steering Group. He has also been a Revalidation Support Team Associate.

Dr Foley is currently Senior Clinical Lead for Data, Insights and Statistics at NHS Digital.
