Prof William Roche

William Roche is Southern Regional Lead, Board member, Trustee and Revalidation lead for FMLM.

In 2013 he was appointed as the Wessex Clinical Senate Chair by NHS England and has led the rapid development of the role of the Clinical Senate as a source of independent advice and clinical assurance of major changes in healthcare provision.

His leadership roles have included Clinical Director of Pathology Services in Southampton and Winchester, Medical Director of Southampton University Hospitals (2006-2009) and Medical Director of the South East Coast Strategic Health Authority (2009-2013).  He has also delivered service change and improvement as Interim Medical Director of Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Guernsey Health and Social Services. He has acted as advisor to a number of organisations including South London Healthcare NHS Trust, Oxford University Hospitals, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals.

In 2015, Prof Roche was appointed a Tribunal Chair by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, the adjudication service for UK doctors who have been referred by the General Medical Council. He is also a senior appraiser for NHS England South, conducting annual appraisal of Responsible Officers and Medical Directors.
