Effective GP leadership throughout the health and care system, working with hospital, community and other colleagues, could transform the culture of the NHS and improve patient outcomes. This session used the findings from FMLM's recent GP survey to launch a discussion on the steps needed to deliver a GP leadership support strategy.
Coaching and mentoring - how to make it successful

What does successful coaching and mentoring look like? What do Doctors get out of it? How does it develop non-clinical leadership skills? This practical session explored all these questions and more. It gave participants the opportunity to consider their own practice as a coach/mentor as well as considering how coaching and mentoring could benefit them. This session included time to think and space to reflect on learning gained throughout the conference.

Trainee & Medical Student Mentoring Scheme 2013 - Kate Adlington
The trainee and student networking session was a joint initiative of the Trainee Steering Group (TSG) and Medical Student Group (MSG) of the FMLM. The meeting began with brief introductions to the TSG and MSG by their respective committee chairs. This was followed by a training session on networking and influencing by leadership coach Dave Thornton and included an activity to put newly-honed skills into practice right away.
