Experience

A facilitator, trainer and executive coach with over 25 years’ experience in international healthcare, medical technology and professional services companies. Worked in international sales & marketing in 3M Healthcare & Pfizer Hospital Products. Fluent in English & French and with a working knowledge of German.

My coaching practice is mainly with people working in professional services. This covers physicians & surgeons, lawyers, architects, accountants, where the challenge is to balance technical skills with other important skills such as people management, business development and leadership.

From my previous experience in clinical practice I understand the challenges facing clinicians.  Recurrent coaching themes include the balancing of technical knowledge with leadership/management roles and work/life balance & career-development for consultants in the new NHS structure.  Additionally with medical career development such as the GMC’s ‘Tomorrow’s Doctors’ for medical students and ‘Modernising Medical Careers’ for post-graduate doctors.

I use evidence-based coaching approaches to create change, such as Transactional-Analysis which is well established as both a psychological change model, as well as an organisational change model.  Additionally my training in Cognitive-Behavioural approaches helps clients to see the value of modifying thinking to create behavioural change.

Engagement and responsibility are two key areas that we always explore in coaching sessions.  Additionally, self-management and self-leadership are woven into the series of coaching sessions along with elements of critical thinking, reflective practice, emotional intelligence and resilience.

In practice

I have my own facilitation & training company focussing on offering executive coaching and a variety of programmes such leadership development, management transformation, conflict management, innovation, and strategic development.

I also specialise in psychological resilience, interpersonal conflict and behavioural & culture change through a wide range of programmes.  I also have a particular interest in Action-Learning Sets and the impact they can create in professional and personal lives.

Additionally, I am a certified DISC Behavioural Profiler which helps individuals and teams to define a good baseline to begin coaching from.  It also helps to identify strengths and gaps that people can work on during the coaching programme

Best and safe practice is extremely important and I achieve this through peer-to-peer supervision, strong boundary definition and contracting.

Additionally, it is important to be a member of a recognised professional body with professional standards and competencies and I have membership of the Association for Coaching through accredited training and coaching hours.  I also have professional indemnity insurance.

I maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) on a regular basis, keep strong contemporaneous records of coaching sessions and maintain confidentiality at all times.
