Dr Sagar Shah

Clinical Fellow, NHS Business Services Authority

Sagar grew up in London and completed his dental training at the University of Birmingham. After qualifying, he worked as a DCT1 and Junior Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery across hospitals in Nottingham and London providing inpatient and outpatient care. During this time, he completed his membership exams for the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

Sagar is currently a Specialty Dentist and Clinical Tutor in Oral Surgery at Kings Dental Institute. To support his role as an educator, he completed a PG Cert in Clinical Education through which he was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. He also works as an associate in a mixed NHS practice and enjoys the variety and challenges of being a general dentist.

Throughout his training Sagar has demonstrated an interest in management and clinical leadership, having led a number of quality improvement projects and assumed various leadership roles. He is currently London Regional Representative for the British Association of Oral Surgery (BAOS) and BDA committee member for Central Committee for Hospital Dental Services (CCHDS).

'I hope this scheme offers me an opportunity to ‘look behind the curtain’ to see first-hand the design, development and delivery of policy that affect both patient care and the professional body. Working with stakeholders in the NHS, I look forward to better understanding the broader political landscape of dentistry in healthcare and the strategy for planning for the future'.
