Dr Shivali Fulchand

Clinical Fellow, BMJ

Shivali is a member of the Cardiff University Class of 2017 and previously graduated with a first class honours in Medical Genetics iBSc. Whilst at medical school, she co-founded The British Student Doctor Journal, an initiative to increase student engagement with evidence-based medicine and to increase editorial and peer-review opportunities.

She completed the Academic Foundation Programme in Leadership and Management in the East Midlands. During this time, she completed the Mary Seacole Programme, a PGCert in Leadership and Management and worked with NICE on a project to improve methods of collecting patient feedback through online patient forums and social media. Shivali also created a handbook for medical students to aid transition to their clinical years, which received the annual Trustee Prize for 'Best Quality Improvement Project'.

Shivali is an Honorary Tutor at Cardiff University and is a member of The Academy of Medical Educators.

Shivali has interests in leadership, medical journalism, publishing and public and global health. Through her placement at The BMJ, she looks forward to exploring all of these interests further and to learn from national leaders. She hopes to pursue a career in General Practice and Global Health, with a focus on humanitarian work.
