Dr Stania Kamara

Clinical Fellow, Academy of Medical Royal Colleges with NHS England and NHS Improvement

Dr Stania Kamara graduated from King's College London in 2010. She completed Foundation Training in Kent and Core Psychiatry Training in London gaining membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2014.

As an ST6 Specialist Registrar in Forensic Psychiatry, Stania works with colleagues to provide mental health care for people with severe mental disorders who have also come into contact with the Criminal Justice System.

She has a particular interest in quality improvement, clinical leadership and the teaching and training of healthcare students. She is passionate about trying to improve access to good quality mental health care across the globe and has worked to develop services and build the capacity of the mental health workforce in a number in number of low and middle income countries. In recognition of this work in 2015 she was shortlisted for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Core Trainee of the year award and awarded the Queen's medal for service during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

Through the fellowship Stania hopes to gain a better understanding of how the NHS functions and to learn how to deliver high quality and safe care in an environment where staff grown and thrive.
