Inclusivity should be at the core of everything a leader does. It is a pillar of compassionate leadership, of nurturing innovation, lifting team members and of maximising the power of collaboration amongst many other disparate elements of leadership.
Between them, health and social care employ approximately one in 10 of the UK population[1]. Without taking into account the extended households supported by the employees, the potential impact of these organisations, as employers, on the health and wellbeing of a large section of our society, is significant.
Last month, I was thrilled to be awarded the King’s Emerging Leader Award as part of the King’s College London Distinguished Alumni Awards 2020, which has made me reflect on my clinical leadership journey so far.
