Dr Bilaal Adam

NHS England
Senior Clinical Fellow 2023/24

Bilaal is an Acute and Interface Consultant at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, where he focuses on improving patient care. As well as working in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC), he places a strong emphasis on improving the connection between primary and secondary healthcare. He provides medical leadership to the Hospital at Home and Intensive Home Support services, supporting acutely unwell patients to remain safely and comfortably in their own home.

Bilaal was Chief Registrar at East Lancashire Hospitals supporting the covid response and has undertaken several improvement projects. He is a specialist advisor to the CQC and outside of medicine has experience within the commercial sector including winning sales awards at national level.

With a passion for education, as a trainee Bilaal implemented local and regional educational programmes including the medical student bleep project and shadow your leader programme for junior medical trainees. The medical student bleep project went on to become a core part of the University of Manchester’s medicine curriculum.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Bilaal is excited to join the Primary Care team at NHS England and is looking forward to improving the organisation across the interface between primary and secondary care. He looks forward to learning from colleagues and build on the valuable lessons he learned from in his previous fellowship with Professor Sir Paul Cosford and the teams at Public Health England.
