Psychometric testing for doctors and medical leaders: do they add value?

The last decade has seen a significant uptake in the use of psychometric questionnaires (usually referred to as tests) for a variety of purposes by healthcare managers and professionals. 

This article is the first of two – this article  which will look at the applications and benefits of psychometric testing within the NHS, and the second article will identify some of the tools most commonly used in the selection and development of medical leaders and managers.
