About Me
A former consultant paediatrician and associate medical director, I now devote my time to coaching NHS leaders at all levels.
Coaching Process
Role transition is exciting and challenging. It’s a time of energy and adjustment, when the non-directive support coaching provides can make all the difference. In our conversations, I work with concepts from positive psychology and developmental coaching. They enable you to discover where you are, refine your aspirations, and recognise your values and strengths. I will challenge you to make plans that build on your strengths and be with you as you negotiate the obstacles in your way. With long experience in clinical medicine and leadership, I understand the realities of the complex world you work in, but your experience is unique: you will find your own way to be an authentic leader.
What can I offer you?
The opportunity for to work through a leadership transition or other difficult period in your professional life. Coachees report that through support and challenge in our sessions, they shift their focus from technical to people skills. They gain awareness of their own style and behaviour and make choices about how they adapt those to motivate their teams and create a positive culture. They develop the capacity to help others do the same. These insights help them solve future problems more creatively.
- Initial informal session to check rapport before deciding to embark on a coaching or mentoring relationship
- A formal contract, including a commitment to the confidentiality and ethical behaviour expected of doctors and of executive coaches, as set out by the GMC and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
