He is also working to deploy a Paediatric Tracheostomy Passport iPhone app that he developed as a project supervisor.

Andrew has held several leadership roles during his training. At medical school he founded and chaired the Anatomical Society and was elected President of the Surgical Society. He is currently the Senior Training Representative for South Thames ENT trainees and works with the PanThames training committee to ensure trainees' needs are advocated for.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Andrew is delighted to have been appointed to the National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellowship Scheme. He applied for the programme to improve his understanding of the complexities of how healthcare systems work on a wider scale. He plans to use his year as Clinical Fellow at NHS England and NHS Improvement to develop this understanding and the skills which will enable him to bridge the gap between delivering effective care and organising and leading effective care. He hopes this will allow him to positively improve care and patient experiences at a regional and national level.
