She has a hospital pharmacy background, previously at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital (GSTT), where she was the Lead Pharmacist for the Medical Admissions unit. Prior to this, she led the Emergency department at GSTT. She has a special interest in acute and emergency care.

Anuja applied for this fellowship to gain a unique insight in to the NHS at a national level and have the opportunity to work with senior leaders in the NHS to develop her leadership and management skills.

Anuja is currently working in the Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation team in the national Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, where she has been able to utilise her clinical experience in improving quality of care within the NHS by helping reduce unwarranted variation. Anuja is also part of the national Medicines Safety Programme, where she has been involved in the process of developing the early priorities for the programme and is currently developing a system wide Medicines Safety Assurance Model, which is a quality improvement approach to support and identify best practice across the NHS in England.

The fellowship has given Anuja an eye-opening experience in understanding the processes and challenges of driving national policy in to safe practice, together with developing the skills and networks necessary to grow in to the future clinical leaders of the NHS.
