Dr Claudia Snudden

Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership
National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow 2023/24
Doctor

Claudia is a GP registrar currently based in Cambridge. She studied medicine at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2017. She then completed her foundation training in Liverpool, during which she established a peer-to-peer teaching programme for foundation doctors. Her interest in medical education led her to undertake a PGCert in Medical Education after starting her GP training in the East of England, and as a result she has had strong involvement with the teaching and supervision of undergraduate medical students.

Claudia is passionate about improving patient outcomes at an individual and community level. She has recently completed an MPhil in Population Health Sciences, focused primarily on primary care. Following this, she spent six months working for the Cambridge and Peterborough local authority public health team where she was able to combine her theoretical and clinical knowledge to help develop the mental health strategy for children and young people.

Alongside her clinical work, Claudia has led on a number of research projects and quality improvement activities, which has provided her with multiple opportunities to present her work both at conferences and in academic journals.

Reason for applying for the scheme

From her experiences of working in the NHS, Claudia believes that collaborative and compassionate leadership is vital in overcoming our modern-day health challenges. As a GP trainee, she sees first-hand the challenges we face and the negative impact this can have on wellbeing. Claudia is therefore passionate about developing her leadership skills to strive for improvement – for both patients and our workforce.

She is excited at the prospect of both learning from and working closely with senior leaders, and collaborating with like-minded fellows across other organisations. Claudia is delighted to be joining the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP), and is looking forward to improving her understanding of how data can be applied to develop evidence-based health policies.

Equipped with the skills and transformational experiences she believes she will gain from the fellowship, Claudia hopes to return to primary care as a future leader, helping to support the evolution of the NHS as the provider of exemplary, equitable healthcare.
