Scottish Medical Leadership Conference
Achieving Excellence in Scottish Healthcare: The Common Goal
28 November 2014
FMLM, in partnership with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties in Scotland, is delighted to announce its first medical leadership conference for Scotland.
This one-day event hosted at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 28 November 2014 will host key speakers in the field of medical leadership and management including:
Dr Aileen Keel, Acting Chief Medical Officer
Mr Ian Ritchie, President of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Chair of Professionalism and Excellence Group
Dr Emma Watson, Chair of Directors of Medical Education Group
Mr Malcolm Wright, Chief Executive of NHS Education
This is a great opportunity for practitioners and leaders across the NHS to meet and share experiences, challenges and inspirations. The event aims to interact with the system and encourage the belief that collectively we are closer to achieving that which we aspire to individually: ‘excellence in all aspects of healthcare’.
The conference will cover a wide variety of hot topics, including: international recognition of the role of medical leadership in modern healthcare; professionalism and excellence in Scottish medicine; quality improvement science; trainings service symbiosis; paired learning and the intricate issue of health and social care integration.
For those who enjoy debates, we will host a Question Time plenary session and you will have the chance to interact throughout. We also have a choice of workshops in the afternoon which will focus on:
politics and how to navigate strategies
the science behind quality improvement
the opportunity to contribute to the development of professional standards of medical leadership
the chance to explore the types of healthcare leaders we may need in the future
the opportunity to engage in ‘paired learning’, a pioneering initiative pairing GPs and social service managers in primary care
