Miss Imogen Stringer

NHS England - Office of the Chief Nursing Officer
Chief Sustainability Officer's Clinical Fellow 2022/23
Nurse

Imogen has been a Senior Clinical Nurse Educator within Critical Care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for the last two years. Imogen is responsible for educating, coaching and developing the nursing and healthcare support staff in their critical care career. Prior to this Imogen was a Critical Care Charge Nurse at St Mary's Hospital, gaining her Level 7 Critical Care Course qualification in 2019. Imogen graduated with a first class Masters of Nursing Science from The University of Nottingham in 2017, during which Imogen worked closely with the Chief Nurse of West Midlands to roll out a new preceptorship model, to improve nurse retention that was successfully adopted by NUH as a result.

Imogen is also a qualified Professional Nurse Advocate, introducing and delivering restorative clinical supervision sessions for all critical care staff, encouraging positive goal setting and improved well being. Imogen has received multiple ‘Make a Difference’ awards due to her supportive, empathetic and caring nature, inspiring and role modelling to others.

Imogen is a determined, motivated and hardworking individual who uses her positive attitude and ‘can do’ energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Imogen strives to go the extra mile, completing the London Marathon in 2021 with a new personal best and raising over £4000 for Martlets Hospice. In Imogen’s free time, she loves to run, outdoor swim, discover new foods and ride her horse.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Imogen is excited to bring her clinical expertise and passion to investigate and develop ways to improve outcomes for us all. She is ready to be at the forefront of leading positive, greener changes to our clinical and personal lives; increasing awareness and finding solutions to reduce waste and emissions, embedding permanent change to the way we live and work, privately and professionally.

Imogen has made positive changes in her personal life for the environment, but the potential to transition this passion into her workplace would be hugely rewarding. As a Nurse and Clinical Nurse Educator in Critical Care, Imogen can provide the skills to bring profound insight to make realistic changes to daily front-line practise and bridge knowledge gaps between management and clinical practitioners. Imogen has the potential to be an influential role model to a large workforce. This opportunity will allow her to improve and develop her platform to make meaningful and sustainable change. The scheme would stretch and challenge her current leadership abilities, introduce new thinking, new methods and amalgamate new and transferable leadership skills to become an encouraging, inspiring role model.

Imogen is keen to access the widespread networking platform the scheme provides to inspire, and be inspired, work collaboratively with a variety of leaders, shape and further develop her leadership skills, and operate with like minded and ambitious people to achieve an important common goal.
