Mr Jaswinder Lal Dhap

NHS England and NHS Improvement Leadership and Lifelong Learning, People Directorate
Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Clinical Fellow Scheme 2021/22

Jaswinder has extensive experience as a pharmacist in both primary and secondary care. His roles have included working in hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, academia, practice based in GP surgeries and care homes. His most recent position at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has enabled him to use his cross-sector experience to support the pharmacy and clinical teams.

Alongside his clinical role, Jaswinder has recently completed his Doctor of Pharmacy (DPharm). His DPharm research project involved redesigning the service pathway for patients with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). As the Chief Investigator, Jaswinder focussed on the role of pharmacists in PD multidisciplinary team outpatient clinics for patients with complex pharmaceutical care needs. The results showed that pharmacists could support PD patients by conducting holistic medication reviews, supporting patient adherence and support other healthcare professionals in clinical decision-making.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Jaswinder applied for this fellowship to further develop his leadership and management skills to support patients, pharmacy colleagues and the NHS to the best of his ability. Jaswinder is looking forward to the opportunity to work with senior leaders and the other fellows over the next 12 months. The opportunity will enable him to work on national projects and develop personally.
