GMC consultation on Good medical practice – all doctors are urged to take part

The General Medical Council (GMC) is running a public consultation on an updated version of Good medical practice, which sets the standards of professional behaviour and patient care expected from all doctors in the UK.

The principles of the guidance are underpinned by the values and behaviours articulated in FMLM’s Leadership and Management Standards for Medical Professionals, which have been set to drive the positive link between medical leadership, better patient outcomes and organisational performance.

The GMC has proposed updates to several areas of Good medical practice, including new duties for doctors to help tackle poor workplace cultures.

FMLM encourages all doctors working at all levels and across all specialties – especially FMLM members and fellows – to respond to the GMC consultation with their views by the deadline of 20 July.

FMLM will submit an organisational response to the consultation, which will be shared on this website.
