TSNews July 2013: Regional focus - Spotlight on Midlands and the East

In my current role, I represent trainees from across the regions of Health Education East Midlands, West Midlands and East of England on the Trainee Steering Group within FMLM. (Dr Levy has also recently been appointed as the regional lead for the Midlands and East of England.)

As part of my role, I will provide you with feedback regarding the work of FMLM. Given that there are a high proportion of trainee members in FMLM, I am particularly keen to ensure that trainees’ voices are heard. I am building a network of relevant contacts to enable me to get in touch with trainees across the region and I hope that any issues or concerns will be fed back to me through this network. If you are able to act as a contact point to pass information onto your colleagues, I would be grateful if you could get in touch.

I am also collating information on leadership and management training across the three LETBs. I aim to inrease awareness of, and improve access to, leadership and management training and experience across the region. I will also look at the mentoring and coaching opportunities available to trainees in the area. If you know of any local opportunities, I would love to hear from you.

I plan to carry out a survey to gather your views on what FMLM should offer and how you feel that management and leadership training in the region can be improved. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with any information or further ideas on what you feel FMLM should offer members in the region.
