Reason for applying for the scheme

Oliver is passionate about clinically led leadership within the NHS and believes that this is essential to creating a culture within healthcare that embraces innovation and resourcefulness whilst maintaining a focus on the delivery of safe, efficient and compassionate patient care.

The FMLM clinical fellowship position at NHS England working within the Transformation Directorate will expose Oliver to a range of unique experiences, knowledge and experts which will help develop him into a well-rounded and informed clinical leader. Oliver hopes to continue to gain experience in understanding the challenges faced and the processes required when trying to make changes at a wider organisational level. Furthermore, he hopes to develop key project management and team leadership skills that will be invaluable when returning to clinical practice.

Oliver has a keen interest in digital transformation and during his MSc in Surgical Innovation learned about the innovation methodology and how digital solutions impact on education, quality improvement, and surgical technology. Having also been a part of the Clinical User Experience (UX) Design Academy programme, he is keen to help translate the knowledge learned into practice, taking the opportunity to work with experts from NHS Digital and NHS X to augment and commission digital solutions which enable efficiency in patient interaction and clinical management.
