Dr Ravi Lukha

Bupa 2021/22
National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow Scheme 2021/22

Ravi graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013, completing his foundation training in Wessex deanery before working in clinical medicine for 3 further years. Throughout university and training, Ravi held an interest in global health, health inequalities and healthcare delivery, gaining an international perspective in South America and East Africa. Consequently in 2017, Ravi joined the Public Health training scheme in Thames Valley, completing a Masters degree in Global Health Sciences and Epidemiology at the University of Oxford.

During his public health training, Ravi has worked in both local and central government, and worked at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) during the COVID-19 pandemic on national health inequalities policy as well as supporting the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, most notably leading for the DHSC on the COVID-19 Community Champions programme and representing the UK as an expert on the Council of Europe's Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion to produce international guidance in response to the pandemic. Most recently, he has been working within Specialised Commissioning at Public Health England with the national Specialised Endocrinology Clinical Reference Group. Ravi is currently a final year trainee.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Ravi strongly values medical leadership and has had some excellent experiences at regional and national level in practice of the positive impact effective leadership can have on patient care and population health in a sustainable way. Therefore, during his time in the fellowship placed at Bupa, he hopes to gain insight into the optimisation of healthcare delivery as well as strategic transformation of care in order to utilise novel technologies to meet the challenges in health and healthcare, whilst further honing skills in system leadership.
