‘Evidence based common sense’ - Peter Lees on new King's Fund report

FMLM founding director, Peter Lees gives his thoughts on the new report from The King’s Fund, Leadership and Engagement for Improvement in the NHS:Together we can, calling the work ‘evidence based common sense’.

This report is a great synopsis of the growing body of evidence which highlights the importance of leadership and staff engagement. As well as the ‘common decency’ argument about ensuring that staff are well cared for, the evidence shows that it leads to better outcomes for patients as well as more cost effective care.

The report was launched 23 May 2012 at the NHS Leadership and Management Summit as the final part of the 2012 Leadership review. It makes the case for engaging staff, patients and boards and for building relationships across systems of care.
