Change is changing - in conversation with Deborah Rowland

By Des Dearlove; Deborah Rowland

This podcast is part of the Contemporary leadership series

Deborah Rowland, co-author of Sustaining Change: Leadership That Works, draws on her experience of leading change in major global organisations including Shell, BBC Worldwide and PepsiCo, to show how 'change is changing'.

The internet explosion over the past five years has changed the way we communicate, challenged traditional hierarchies in organisations and made the 'command and control' leadership approach obsolete. Change has become more experimental and based on engaging networks of peers rather than on the leader controlling the process. Nevertheless, "a leader can still be in command of a change process even if they might feel out of control", says Deborah.
