Securing the future of general practice: exploring new models and new thinking

General practice in England is under significant strain, with many GPs caught on a treadmill of trying to meet current demand, while lacking time to reflect on how to provide and organise care for the future.

Dr Rebecca Rosen and Dr Nigel Edwards, two of the authors of the Kings Fund and Nuffield Trust paper 'Securing the Future', explored different models of primary care and debated how to develop the scope and scale of services by introducing imaginative measures that make the most of the strong history of independence and innovation within general practice.
