Social media and healthcare transformation

The rise of the ‘Clever economy’ and radically shifting cultural trends reveal a world which is much less impressed by hierarches, whether professional or managerial: We want – and expect – to be engaged. We want – and expect – to co-create our products and services, whether that’s customising our travel experiences or customising our journey through healthcare.

Social media technologies open up mechanisms for doctors to work in radically novel partnerships with our patients in ways that sync completely with international trends.  As witnessed during the Arab Spring, social media really do provide the ways and the means to instigate revolution.

This webinar is a light- hearted look at a subject area that is likely to have a profound impact on our working lives as doctors:  How do social media allow us to revolutionise healthcare?

Public attitudinal shifts were discussed and key social media portals considered, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google Plus.  The presenters took the time to engage in some crystal ball gazing as they imagined what service redesign implications and governance adaptations may result.
