Dr Saadiq Moledina

Care Quality Commission
National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow 2023/24
Doctor

Saadiq studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2016 after completing a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering at Imperial College London. He returned to London to complete his core medical training before heading up north to undertake a prestigious NIHR-funded Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) in Cardiology in the West Midlands deanery. During his cardiology specialty training and ACF, he has published more than 20 original peer review publications, including first author publications in top ranking journals such as The European Heart Journal, European Journal of Preventative Cardiology, Mayo Clinic Proceedings and Heart (BMJ). His research has focussed primarily on utilising big data to address disparities of care in patients presenting with heart attacks.

Saadiq is passionate about the use of technology in health care and medical education. He has combined these two passions and is the founder of Medicamentum Classes, where he runs educational courses for other doctors in training. He has regularly undertaken several leadership roles, including representing his department at undergraduate level, other doctors during core medical training and ACF’s on the integrated academic training committee for the West Midlands deanery.

Outside of work, Saadiq loves Tennis, Squash, F1 and is a huge Liverpool FC fan.

Reason for applying for the scheme

Saadiq’s application to the National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow Scheme stemmed from his interest in health inequalities. He hopes to build on the research he has done to date, working closely with senior leadership in the NHS, looking specifically at how to better integrate research with policy. This scheme will not only allow him to apply and build on the leadership skills he has developed in his career thus far, but also offers a unique experience to learn from the most influential medical leaders in the field.

Saadiq is delighted to have been appointed to the National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow Scheme and to be joining Care Quality Commission (CQC). He is excited to meet and collaborate with other fellows and senior NHS leaders and is particularly looking forward to seeing first-hand the key role of an independent regulator in healthcare, particularly looking at how best to deliver high quality care on a national scale.
