Dr Taj Hassan

Dr Taj Hassan is a consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and also President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine ( 2016 - 2019). He has previously held posts at NHS Improvement as an Associate Medical Director, Vice President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and Director of eLearning at the College. His major interests include Emergency Medicine system design, creating workforce resilience & sustainability through leadership development. 

He previously led on and helped devise the Invited Service Review programme for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in the post Mid-Staffs Report era. Internationally, he has been involved in developing leadership training programmes for the International Federation of Emergency Medicine and linking to help support developing countries in their Emergency Medicine system development.

Life away from work is spent trying to hone his negotiating skills with 3 children under 11 and a wife who is a surgeon.
