Brand guidelines

These guidelines set out the rules for co-branding - using the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM) logo and name by a third party on promotional materials for joint events, courses etc. 

When to use the logo

In order to use the FMLM logo on any type of material, you must have prior permission from the communications [at] fmlm.ac.uk (communications team) who will also be able to provide the artwork you need and guidelines for use. The communications team will need to see a visual or proof to approve how the logo has been applied before publication.

Position

In most cases, the FMLM logo should appear top left. When that is not possible, the logo should take a secondary position - bottom left.

Primary position - top left

Secondary position - bottom left

Clear space

No other logo or text should encroach into the clear space area which should always appear around the logo - use the size of the centre circle as a guide to the clear space.

Minimum size

The FMLM logo should not be used smaller than 28mm across.

Colour

The FMLM colour logo should not appear on any background colour other than white or black (or a dark tint of black). If the logo must be used on another colour, then the black and white version of our logo should be used.

Preferred colour version (on white)

Common mistakes

You should not use the focus device element of the logo without the Faculty name.

You should not use the typographic element from the logo without the focus device.

Do not tilt the logo.

Take care not to distort the logo - something which is easily done by mistake in some software programmes.

Do not place the logo inside another shape or otherwise encroach into its clear space area.

How to use the FMLM name

When writing about FMLM, the first instance of the Faculty's name should be 'Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM)'. Subsequent mentions can refer simply to 'FMLM' (and not 'the FMLM'). As an organisation, FMLM is a single entity so the style is ‘FMLM is' or 'FMLM has’ not ‘FMLM are' or 'FMLM have’.

Typography and fonts

FMLM core corporate font is Interstate. This is the font we use for all professionally printed material, both for headlines and body copy. The default font is Calibri. This is the font we use when Interstate is not available, for example in word-processed documents or on digital materials.
