Personality tests for medical leaders – which are the most effective?

Personality tests for medical leaders
By Dr Jenny King

The first article of this two-part series (Psychometric testing for doctors and medical leaders: do they add value?) examined the contribution of psychometric testing to the assessment and development of medical leaders. The choice of psychometric tests is vast and it can be a challenge to know which tests to use.

In this second article I will focus on three specific personality tests that are widely used in the NHS in the assessment, development and coaching of doctors and medical leaders and senior managers. They provide powerful insights into leadership potential and effectiveness. There is also an increasing evidence base showing the contribution of these particular measures to the prediction of leadership emergence and effectiveness.
