Induction for new clinical fellows fosters links across the four nations

On Friday 9 September, FMLM was delighted to host the Clinical Fellow Schemes Induction for 2022/23.
This event brought together more than 120 clinical fellows from across the FMLM portfolio of national and regional clinical fellow schemes, and included colleagues from Northern Irish and Welsh counterpart schemes. The induction day served as an opportunity for the incoming clinical fellows to meet their scheme sponsors and the FMLM team, as well as providing the opportunity to meet and network with their cohort of clinical fellows from across all schemes.
Clinical fellows heard directly from Professor Sir Steve Powis, National Medical Director of NHS England, and David Webb, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer of NHS England, who outlined their expectations for the year and the importance of the national and regional schemes.
A panel of recent clinical fellow scheme alumni discussed their experiences and offered valuable advice to the new clinical fellows. This included navigating the various competing demands of their new teams, being effective within the systems they now operating in, and thinking about the transition from clinical work to the jobs they now had, and transitioning back.
FMLM is thrilled to be entering its thirteenth year of delivering clinical fellow schemes in partnership with NHS England and wishes the incoming cohort of clinical fellows the very best in their year ahead.
